An Amazing Team

Nothing is harder than putting all your time and effort into an animal. Them giving you everything they’ve got; becoming an amazing team.  And just before an important event…. something life changing happens to your best friend, and there is nothing you can do.

Yes, I made mistakes. Yes, she made mistakes. But we learned, and our bond became stronger for it.

There are some things I wish I could have gone back and done differently, but there is not another animal in the world I would have wanted to share those memories with.

There were many, many times I was just ready to give up and sell her, but there was something that kept pulling me back every time.

Now, all those memories, happy moments, and love are hanging by a thread. My best friend is so close to death, and there is nothing I can do but pray. She has given me opportunities I never in a million years would have thought I could get. She showed me what was possible if we worked as a team.

I don’t want her to leave. I want to make more memories with her, but I don’t want to keep her here suffering.

She had a good life, she was able to run, and running is what she did best.

I wish I could have just gotten one more run in an open pasture, or a run on another track, or a run through the mountains, or a run on the beach.  I don’t think I’ll ever have the opportunity to do that again.

Thank you, Baby Girl, for being the best first-horse a girl could ever ask for. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I am going to miss you.
